Heroes of the Storm or MOBA for selfish people and big spenders.
Let’s start from the beginning. Two years ago, my friends forced me to play DOTA 2 and from that moment I began to love MOBA games. And today I wanted to play HOTS. I thought it would be cool, but I was wrong. Before the review itself, I want to state: this review does not intend to offend HOTS fans and is only a personal view of the game of an unbalanced docker.
1. Lore games.
Some will say that it is useless for MOBA, but I say the opposite. Every game needs a plot, or a description of the world. In HOTS, unless I’m mistaken due to my lack of knowledge, it is described as follows:
"Legends speak of a place where worlds touch and mighty heroes fight for power. ".
This caption appears in the opening video. My reaction to this was: "So what? ?". That’s all. Nothing more. Just an excuse that the developers were too lazy to think through the lore. Well, okay, this is not a significant minus, it’s just that if I’m wasting time, then I want to know the reasons why I’m fighting. And the excuse "… for power . "it doesn’t work here. In DOTA 2, the heroes talk to each other, each has their own biography, their own motivation, and if you dig further, you can find out even more than is described in the game itself.
2. Gameplay.
Well, here of course it’s up https://playspielothekcasino.uk to anyone. Personally, I have no complaints about the graphics. Quite a nice visualization. The biggest disadvantage is “insensitivity”. You don’t feel the game one bit. Let’s start in order.
Overall Experience. Experience is given for killing creeps. Which is distributed to the entire team, which automatically discourages all desire to farm them. Since when is communism in MOBAs?? No, I’m serious, someone will say: "Well, this is teamplay, helping those who gank and end up falling behind in farming.". NOOOOOOO this is not true at all. You can tear everyone to smithereens, but you will not surpass the one who played the game, came up, received it, never helped, went to the fountain, came back, fed.
Missing items. There are no items in this game. At all. Here it is in full. Just no. Forget. What is za’atar?
What does this mean for the game?? Lack of variability. In DOTA 2, for each rink there can be a different zatar on one hero. Items provide thousands of play style variations. With one item you can counter the entire enemy team and win even though you and your team have a gap in level and a couple of abnormal teammates. But no. WE WILL EQUALIZE PLAYERS. FUCK VARIATION.
I sometimes had the feeling that this game was made for people not far from MOBA games, as a warm-up before a real MOBA. The lack of items makes this game not very casual. Although no. This makes the game so fucking casual. OK. Let’s finish the lyrical digression and continue.
Battles. Absolute. Absence. Fucking. PRESENCE IN A FUCKING BATTLE. I never felt like I was in a fight. You don’t feel like you’re doing or receiving damage. Looks like you’re beating up your opponent. He’s got half his life. And here:
He puts up with you. it’s not clear how. You ask yourself this question and suddenly you understand. I DAMN DIDN’T EVEN SEE THAT HE BEATED ME. I THOUGHT HE WAS BEATING CREEPS. YES HE EVEN IN THE DIRECTION OF SKILL AND ATTACK BEAT CREPS, BUT NO IT TURNS OUT HE USED MEGASUPERUBERGYPERCLOSE YOU COMPLETELY UNABILITY, AND I DIDN’T EVEN NOTICE BECAUSE I DIDN’T FEEL IT. THE GAME DIDN’T EVEN SHOW THAT I’M BEING KILLED.
Really. You seem to have full health, and the enemy has less than half, but he begins to bludgeon you so much that you, precisely due to the fault of the game and visualization of the damage, did not see that you were killed.
3. Teammates, damn them.
Well, how can I say I came across complete egoists. I could be attacked by two opponents a few steps away from them, and they just stand or run away with full health. I lost all day at NOTS and never won. Because I came across such allies. We could be demolished by five of us in one lane, we could be beaten by five of us on one lane, but they would still stand on their lane and beat the creeps. In general, I can boil down my entire discussion about teammates to one thing:
4. Not just a donation, but a donation.
The biggest disadvantage for any game like this is the paid characters. Of course, you can buy them for local currency, but it takes a looooong time to accumulate. Well it’s been a really long time. And then everything is for money. And there are quite a lot of characters. From the beginning only 7 characters are available. The game is free, but if you want to play fully right away, pay. This is not a game, this is a damn DEMO VERSION! If you are going to donate, then you have an incredible advantage over others. In general, this game gives you three options:
1. Wasting your time on character discovery
2. Spending money on character unlocks
3. Tolerate
5. Conclusion
To sum it up, I want to say that this game is… good. Yes, despite what I wrote, it is really good, but not finished. Although, to a greater extent, this game was ruined by the thirst for profit of its developers. A more gentle donation and minor corrections in the gameplay and visualization can make this game a full-fledged competitor for DOTA 2, which, in fact, is what HOTS is striving for.
My final verdict is 3 out of 5. Thank you all for reading, commenting, rating and we will meet again at StopGame.ru.
