Hidden Pass – Tactical Turn-Based RPG with 4X Strategy Elements. October Dev Diaries

October is a traditionally very busy period for the gaming industry. And our studio is no exception. All month, starting from the previous diary, we have been developing a global map. Step by step. Anyone who understands this area knows that the most difficult thing is the initial stage, when there is little to eat.

We are now laying the foundation for our global map.

At the moment it looks like this:

The basis of the global gameplay is the tower (your base) and the Eoliths (rocks floating in the air). It is these two things that give you an increase in resources, the ability to build buildings and open a map.

Eoliths, in addition to being resource points, are also your outposts. Or small bases if you like. You can build buildings on them, upgrade them, keep a protective garrison. But most importantly, Eoliths can be captured, expanding the influence of your faction. This element is key, because the campaign is built on a lore narrative that leads you straight to the Gate (you can find out about them in the Prologue of the game). To reach the gate you need to move from Eolith to Eolith, moving deeper into the Elyrium Belt.

Hidden Pass contains Songs of Conquest elements.

Here we come to https://primespielhalle-casino.co.uk the fact that our game was inspired by games like Heroes 3, its more modern incarnation Songs of Conquest and games like Age of Wonders 4. Naturally, according to tradition, capturing new lands is not so simple. They are guarded by monsters.

The speed of the game implies dynamic expansion from Eolith to Eolith until the player hits the edge of the map. The path itself will not be simple and a quick rush will not take place due to many difficulties: opening the map means fighting monsters that become stronger the further you go. And if you don’t have reinforced automata, new heroes, or at least a pumped-up single hero, pushing forward is a useless exercise.

The Gate is the key to the Elyrium Belt.

You can’t hesitate either. You are not alone in the Elyrium Belt. There are enemy factions that, like you, want to capture the Gate. And also the Gates absolutely do not want anyone to capture them, they are also developing and the power of the Gates is growing. And along with this, the dangers that await the player.

Emissions. Here is one of the global mechanics that is being developed by our team. It will keep you on edge, because any release implies various nasty things that can happen anywhere in the Belt. And neither the Tower nor the garrisons on your Eoliths can escape the consequences. You can only prepare for problems. The same problems await your opponents – for the Gate everyone is equal.

Conclusion.

This is how I could describe in broad strokes what we are doing now. Most of the mechanics have already been written and are currently in development. We will post screenshots and videos in more detail as they are ready. In the Alpha version, our main task is to form the basic gameplay of Hidden Pass, so that without a lot of variety of monsters or buildings there will already be a game. Starting the campaign, the player developed his faction, moved deeper into the belt, accumulated resources and moved further. Becoming stronger and more ready for challenges. And then the finish line and the Gate. That is, in fact, it would be possible to complete the game, despite the lack of internal content (and filling it with variety is the next step).
